Happy New Year!
St Giles' Choir truly excelled in their music-making during December 2011. On the Sunday before Christmas, the choir sang at the nine lessons and carols service. Although some of the carols were very difficult to perform (such as John Tavener's 'The Lamb') the choir created a wonderful atmosphere and together with the many candles lit throughout the church, the service was a perfect way to start the Christmas celebrations.
Many thanks too to our visiting singers & musicians throughout December: Ruth Scott (Soprano), Matt Duncan (Baritone), Jonathan Williams (trumpet), Edward Potter (Tuba), Aga Serugo-Lugo (Clarinet) and Jia-Ping Lee (Violin).
Camberwell Community Choir also had a very busy Christmas singing at the SE5 Christmas Party, Carols round Camberwell and Camberwell Farmer's market. The choir has been recently set up and is open to all who enjoy singing. Rehearsals start again on Tuesday 10th January at 7.45pm.
2012 promises to be a busy year of course with both the London Olympic Games and the Queen's Jubilee celebrations. But St Giles' will continue to provide music for all to enjoy and we hope you will join us when you can at our events throughout the year.
