Soprano Luci Briginshaw graduated with a Bachelor of Music from King's College London in 2003, gaining a distinction for her Advanced Performance Final Recital, and winning the Adam Prize for the highest recital mark in her second year. This course afforded her the association with Janet Price at the Royal Academy, with whom she continued to study singing for four years.
Luci has a repertoire that spans a wide range of musical periods and styles. Recitals have included arias from Mozart's Don Giovanni and Zaide, Handel's Teseo, Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor, Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice, Verdi's Rigoletto, Puccini's La Boheme and Gianni Schicchi, Grieg's Peer Gynt, and songs by Schumann, Vaughan Williams, Britten, Wolf, Purcell and Walton.
Luci is set to appear as Suor Genovieffa in Suor Angelica at the Bridewell Theatre in March. Last December she made her debut as The Queen of the Night with Morley College's production of Die Zauberflote.. As part of her public recitals, Luci has also performed opera scenes from Cosi Fan Tutte (Fiordiligi), Die Zauberflote (Pamina) and La Traviata (Violetta). She was part of the ensemble cast of a double performance of Britten's Burning Fiery Furnace and Prodigal Son in Kensington in 2007. Oratorio and sacred choral music continue to play a key role in Luci's vocal repertoire and she has appeared as a soloist in the Requiems of Brahms and Mozart, Vivaldi's Gloria, Haydn's Nelson Mass, Bach's St Matthew Passion and Christmas Oratorio, Mozart's Grand Mass in C Minor, and John Baird's Wilderness in a world premiere concert conducted by the composer in 2009.
Luci is active as a choral singer, and is a member of London Voices, the St Martin in the Fields Chorus, The Elysian Singers as well as several church choirs, including the chapels of Her Majesty's Guards and the Tower of London, and the Brompton Oratory.Recent and forthcoming performances include Brahms' Requiem in St Clement Danes, Handel's Messiah and Haydn's Creation in London, Ligeti's Requiem at the Lucerne Festival, Vaughan Williams' Serenade to Music in Oxford, a live projection of The Lord of the Rings at the Royal Albert Hall, and Mozart's Requiem in Athens under the baton of Sir Neville Marriner.
Luci currently studies singing privately with Stuart Kale. She is also an accomplished pianist and works frequently as an accompanist and teacher of piano.
